Righteous bastards

I am beginning to think that i am an evil person or something.

Question : How does wearing a white band around your arm decrease poverty?
Answer : It doesn't, all this white band does is tell everyone around you that you are against poverty. Who the hell isn't? I think you'd find that a very small percentage of the population that would say that they support poverty and that they think it's alright that 800 million people go to bed hungry every night. I have been in some extremely poor places in central america and mexico, and can guarantee you that wearing a white ribbon around your arm in winnipeg has nothing to do with them, and is not doing anything except making you look like a self-righteous and delusional person (in my eyes).

I don't think wearing a white band is self-righteous...

First of all, at very least the majority of the money you SPEND on the white band goes directly to charity.

Secondly, people in Canada, in the U.S, in Australia, Scotland, South Africa...people ACROSS the world wouldn't be talking (whether postively or negatively) about world poverty if it weren't for so many people wearing white bands.

Obviously wearing a white band wont feed a family in Africa or Central America DIRECTLY but it raises awareness, and supporting good causes and trying to make a difference WILL affect the state of the world. One band wont change anything, but if people around the world are UNITED in SUPPORTING a cause, THEN maybe governments will start to listen...
